@adam-l and Typo The thing about the old left was that it wanted re-distribution that had a measure of fairness behind it. Without the worker the industrial revolution that gave everyone a better life would not have happened but when that revolution was at its height, the essential workers were not getting fair recompense and lived far worse than the peasants in the countryside (no means of self support like cottage gardening, filthy sometimes cholera filled water, tiny cold houses, 12+ hour days, industrial accidents...

The left had some moral basis and some of its work has benefited all "common men" today. Then the left stopped talking about giving a fair share where it was due and made universal "rights" that actually did the opposite of give what was fair and due. They took from the workers who had earned and gave to those who had not contributed like women, cripples, the lazy and the dysfunctional (those who are good cases for human charity but who should not fair better by right than those who carry them).

The left is morally bankrupt and in the end this will ruin them but they still seem to think they have the moral high ground and the establishment (which has self interestedly leaned left because the trend for the last century has been left) backs this. We will defeat the left because it is morally bankrupt but it won't be tomorrow.

@SwarmShawarma Yes the experiments need to be re -run. I can't recall but that experiment was re-run a number of times with some variations and there was always the same results. I inadvertently did it with gerbils when i was a boy. They bred faster than I could sell or re-home them and in the end it went just like mouse utopia and they all died.

I would love to re-run it with limited immigration in one universe. I would also like to start with a gene pool that was considered large enough to keep a mouse breed stable. I would also like to run a couple of dystopias -like where a cat or a boy with an air rifle was let in to persecute the mice from time to time or where there might also be floods and food shortages. One could have a control utopia with an adequate gene pool, a mild dystopia with mild immigration and mild culling (preferably of the less able like with cats or crows) and a serious dystopia where the population might even go through the odd bottle neck and at the end be set on by an equal each universe's members could be tested by a mass immigration.

It would be interesting not only to look at survival but also at the quality of mice created -who can run mazes faster, who can defend territory from a large immigration, who is better mentally adjusted in over populated conditions, who lives longer. I think a lot of interesting things could be looked at.
