Gavin Newsom and Michael Bloomberg will eliminate America's energy independence.

There are many avenues to undermining and destroying the republic and, by extension, severely damaging the Church, whose natural law teachings are the republic's foundations. You can, of course, flood nearly 10 million illegals into the country, a number whose total now exceeds the population of 41 states. From the communist Democrats' point of view — check!

You can also do everything you can think to weaken the strongest economy in world history, an economy that has been built on energy mainly derived from fossil fuels — oil and coal to be specific. A step-by-step process would first include making oil and coal the "bad guy" needing to be done away with. The reason? They are destroying the climate and bringing about apocalyptic changes in the environment.

This mantra has been screamed at the top of their lungs for 40 years now, through the media and universities, and it is now accepted by the public as a fact. But it's not true. Nonetheless, the communist propaganda is relentless.

Just a couple months ago, former New York City mayor and billionaire-at-large Michael Bloomberg announced he is donating another $500 million to, in his words, "finish the job on coal." This follows on approximately $500 million he's already directed into the effort.

Climate change is more deadly than abortion?

One of the most disturbing appointments to the College of Cardinals Pope Francis has made, among many, is the elevation of Robert McElroy of San Diego. Among the many horrible, virtually un-Catholic positions the recent cardinal has enunciated is one that has to do with the preposterous position that climate change is so bad that it actually claims more lives around the world each year than abortion.

For the record, according to the Guttmacher Institute, there are 73 million abortions worldwide every year. So where Cdl. McElroy is getting his number that more than 73 million people die every year from changes in the weather is a little dumbfounding — likely because it's not true.

McElroy is notorious for skirting Church teaching in the area of sexual morality and has deemed it a worthy cause to promote "social justice" as more important than individual justice and charity.

Among his chief bothers is the constant change in the atmosphere that most normal people simply call "the weather." For the bad cardinal, changing weather must be stopped and prevented in the future at all costs.

He, like Pope Francis, goes on to ascribe these atmospheric changes not to the normal course of the world's changing environment, but specifically to man, especially America. Mean old bad nasty America.

He completely disregards hard scientific facts like increased volcanic activity on the ocean floor causing rising sea temps. For him, solar flares are nowhere near as much of a threat as driving your nonelectric vehicle is. But hey, don't confuse the cardinal with actual science. That's because the actual science simply explodes his world of substitute morality, where man and the earth are elevated over God, where the two greatest commandments are switched.

When that happens, the door is open to all sorts of shenanigans. And McElroy is one of the leading proponents of all this.

In truth, he and his kind hate the Church, and they hate America, at least as we have traditionally understood the nation, because, with all its many flaws, a free America at least gives the opportunity for the Faith to thrive. In a communist state, or one approaching it, the Faith is much more easily suffocated.

As we conclude our extended coverage of the Los Angeles prayer rally against the Dodgers and the award given to the anti-Catholic hate group, there are some important takeaways here.

If you were unable to catch our live stream of the actual event on Friday, we've pulled a few interview highlights we think are worth focusing on because they cover the gamut of the struggle we are in, both spiritual and temporal.

Up first, a bishop, the only bishop to appear at the event, at least publicly, Bp. Not to belabor the point about the noteworthy Catholic pushback against the Los Angeles Dodgers and their honoring of the blasphemous drag show nuns, but we need to still revel in all this for a moment or two.

Thousands of Catholics showed up at the prayer rally and procession to make our voices heard, as semi-official estimates put the number of Catholics at upwards of 5,000. What appears to have happened was that the Dodgers organization, which invited the group, disinvited them and then reinvited them, felt the heat and moved the honoring ceremony to almost one hour before the opening pitch.

As a result, the stadium was almost completely empty as the twisted sisters received their award — and some of the handful actually booed them. We heard from some of the speakers during Church Militant's livestream of the event, good Catholic men like Jesse Romero and John Yep (chief organizers), Jack Posobiec, and, of course, Bp. Strickland.

A problem ignored by San Francisco's archbishops for decades.

I'm Michael Voris coming to you from the Catholic prayer presence outside Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium.

This controversy arose from the decision by the Dodgers to first invite, then disinvite and then re-invite the group known as the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" — a group that largely mocks Catholic women religious to gain attention for fundraising for various liberal causes.

But what many don't know is the background of this group. Where did they come from? When did they start? How did all this suddenly become a thing? Unsurprisingly, you have to go back not to L.A., but actually to San Francisco in the late 1960s and 1970s, where all sorts of outrageous groups were forming and roaming about trying to draw attention to gay causes.

Most of that activity originated and took place in a neighborhood area of San Francisco known as the "Castro District," which, ironically enough, had been a heavily populated Irish Catholic enclave until all this began.

In the late 1970s, three men arrived from Iowa City with actual nuns' habits they had tricked out of nuns at a convent there, saying, according to press reports, they were just borrowing them for a production of The Sound of Music.

Once in San Francisco, the men donned the habits, on Easter weekend no less, threw themselves into the morass of the Castro District, rose to prominence above the earlier groups and became established as the definitive group dedicated to mocking cultural and traditional values through denigration of mostly Catholic teaching.

In October 1980, they held their first formal fundraiser — a bingo game. An advance write-up in the San Francisco Chronicle immortalized their name as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

The list keeps growing.

With the recent announcement by the diocese of Oakland, California, that it too would now join the growing list of bankrupt dioceses in the United States, the number now stands at 30 out of approximately 180. That's more than 15% of all dioceses in the country. However, there is a monster case, a very likely bankruptcy that is sitting out there in the wings, very likely to be filed sooner rather than later.

Church Militant broke the news a couple of weeks ago of the release of the state of Maryland attorney general's report nailing the archdiocese of Baltimore in its complicity in covering up hundreds of sex abuse cases. Baltimore is massively important because of its symbolic value to the Church here in the United States, being the first diocese erected in the new nation and therefore having pride of place.
