The collapse of the Church in America began right here in Detroit in the 1960s under a man hailed at his death by secular media giants as "the most liberal" churchman in the country.
Cardinal John Dearden was "woke" before "woke" became a thing. And for the record, being "woke" began in the Church long before it assailed the culture. In fact, "wokeness" in the culture owes its existence first to dissidents in the Church. And among the leaders, none plays as prominent a role as Cdl. Dearden.
For example, hardly a night passes on Church Militant Evening News where we aren't reporting on some craziness being proposed at synods and their warm-up periods, known as "listening sessions." The whole "synod madness" was first unleashed in modern times by John Dearden, who in 1969 launched "listening sessions" and the follow-up synod right here in Detroit.

It's a den of thieves.
Based on what we have come to learn about the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) over our time in Baltimore, the Conference needs to be brought to an end.
It is nothing more than a vehicle for obscuring the Faith, on the one hand, and advancing phony social justice warrior claims on the other. It is, in short, a den of thieves — stealing souls and money.
The Conference operates on a roughly $200 million annual budget, and while it's true that a substantial portion of that budget is funded by all Americans' tax dollars, the rest of it is funded specifically by Catholics' donations into the weekly collection basket. The bishops agree to have each diocese chip in some percentage of its own budget and forward that on to USCCB headquarters in D.C. to pay for:
- Liberal bureaucrats to lobby Congress for liberal causes
- Bloated bureaucracy and
- The bishops' twice per year gatherings
In sum, you are paying for this Conference through a system of ecclesiastical and civil taxes. And for what? Absolutely nothing. Well, check that; if only nothing was being accomplished, that would be bad enough, but something far worse than just nothing is being accomplished here. The demolition of the Faith is going on.
But this is nothing new. When you consider that the Conference (and its attendant evils over the years) was begun by Detroit's own über-liberal Cdl. John Dearden back in 1966 — immediately following Vatican II — none of this can surprise anyone.

Evil never stays isolated.
Evil is never compartmentalized. It spreads like a grease fire, overflowing into all aspects of a place. A person is not both good and evil at the same time. And for clarity, we aren't talking about people simply sinning, giving in to temptation and then going to confession.
We are talking about the embrace of evil — not just bad, sinful acts. A person can be fundamentally "good" but still sin. That understanding fits nearly everyone struggling to work out his or her salvation in fear and trembling.
No, here we are talking about a situation where a person has given himself over to evil, embraced it. Such people are fundamentally bad. For them, salvation is a much more difficult goal, for they do not even recognize the need for repentance.
