How Marx won control of the US.

I'm Michael Voris, coming to you from onboard Church Militant's autumn Retreat at Sea off the New England coast.

From the country's founding following the War of Independence (and really before), this entire region was the most anti-Catholic in all the colonies. Laws on the books made it essentially illegal to be Catholic or made daily conditions so bad that good numbers of Catholics (the very few there were) went to the southern colonies.

It was only when the waves of Catholic immigrants began arriving here, first as a result of the Irish potato famine beginning in 1845, that the demographics began to shift. Interestingly, however, just as the Irish started coming off the boats on foot, so did Karl Marx arrive, in his written contributions to the New York Daily Tribune.

Both he and Engels, but especially Marx, were anxious to gain communism a foothold in the developing nation, so their editorials were a means to do that.

So involved were they and anxious to see the relatively new country, less than a hundred years old, adopt communism, that they even wrote commentaries on the U.S. Civil War.

New England was the power center of the country, at least intellectually and culturally, as it had been the original geographical nexus.

New York was the locus, with its burgeoning media influence, and Marx recognized that and started pumping his communist propaganda into the infant nation's bloodstream.

Important to note, his doctrines hadn't even really made it onto the Church's radar in any significant fashion at this point. He had about a 40-year head start and was able to lay the groundwork before the Church even really knew about him.

Antonio Gramsci's anti-Catholic plan proved Joseph Stalin wrong.

In order for communism to succeed in the West, a massive deconstruction, a demolishing of the culture, would have to occur. However, the commies were not operating in a vacuum, and they knew it. You can't just blow into town and start uprooting everything.

Perhaps a better way to visualize this would be to think in terms of tipping the scales. When one side is greatly lower, you can get the scales to tip by either just adding more weight to the other side or slowly adding more weight while at the same time subtracting weight from the opposite side.

Of course, the second method requires more time and patience and planning, but, at the end, it is the more effective way to actually flip the scales. This was the plan the communists put into effect.

Ultimately, it was all about transforming society slowly, methodically and extremely effectively, so that as one generation gave way to the next, the transformation would hardly be noticeable. It was an extremely ambitious and, most importantly, wide-ranging strategy, one that required capturing various institutions of society at approximately the same time.

If you think in terms of, say, planning a big meal with all sorts of dishes, you need to make sure that the timing is right — all the food has to hit the table at the same time.

Because they are different dishes, some require much advance prep work; others, not as much. But they all need to come off the stove and out of the oven at the same instant. Well, the same is true of the commie plan to undermine the culture.

What all the institutions actually had in common was their at least tacit acceptance of Christian principles (and, specifically, Catholic principles) on how a well-ordered society should run and look.

Gramsci clashed with Joseph Stalin on the issue of what was the greater challenge to creating the "workers' paradise," capitalism or the Catholic Church. For Gramsci, it was clear: Catholicism, because he understood the vital knitting together of the other institutions relied on the underlying view of man promoted and taught by the Church.

What Is Spiritual Warfare? A review of Saint John Of Kronstadt's "My Life In Christ" – Roosh Valizadeh

Saint John Of Kronstadt is a highly esteemed Russian saint and miracle worker who died in the early 20th century. He was a chosen vessel that healed scores of people while foretelling the intense tribulation of the Russian Revolution. His spiritual diary, "My Life In Christ", is among the top three Orthodox books I’ve read. Every page is full of dense spiritual wisdom that beautifully harmonizes with what the Orthodox Church teaches. This is the first of four articles highlighting the best of Saint John’s lessons, starting with a description of spiritual warfare and why it’s so important to engage as a soldier of Christ.

Those who are trying to lead a spiritual life have to wage a most subtle and difficult warfare in their thoughts every moment of their life. This is spiritual warfare. They must be entirely awake, every moment, ready to notice every evil thought entering their souls from the evil one and to repel them. Such people must have hearts always burning with faith, humility, and love; otherwise, the cunning devil will quickly invade them, leading to lessening of faith or complete loss of faith. Then every possible evil will inhabit their hearts, evil that will not easily wash away even with tears. Do not, therefore, allow your heart to become cold, especially during prayer, and avoid stony insensibility in every way possible.

…the devil and his evil spirits, as simple beings—though far from perfect in their simplicity, and very limited—act on the soul quickly, instantaneously, as suddenly as lightning or thought. A momentary feeling of attachment to earthly things, or a momentary inclination of the heart to sin, a momentary doubt in the truth, and Satan penetrates into the heart, producing in a moment a violent passion in it. Afterward, according to the measure of our sympathy with the passion, he takes possession of us and drags us where he pleases as his prisoners, bound hand and foot. If we resist him, he strives to foil our efforts to strive for heartfelt faith and pious thoughts and feelings by darkening our mind and heart. In order to vanquish and drive him from your heart, you must produce perfect faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in your heart and remember that the enemy is active within you, that your thoughts or the inclinations of your heart and will are sinful, ungodly.

[The devil] destroys us using our own mind, which should lead us to the eternal, living God! With our own ladles he draws for us the deadly water of worldly, vain wisdom, and gives us and other men to drink of it, instead of the living water of the Word of God! And we drink and drink, never suspecting that is it the water of death.

You can see that [Satan] is in you, but often you cannot rid yourself of him, because he usually takes care to close all the exits from your heart through unbelief, hard-heartedness, and other passions of his inspiration. “Your labor is in vain, fallen angel, I am the servant of my Lord Jesus Christ. You, who exalt yourself in your arrogance, lower yourself by thus violently struggling with me, weak as I am.” Speak thus inwardly to the evil spirit, who lies like a heavy load on your heart and compels you to all kinds of evil. These words are like fiery whips to the proud spirit, and he, shamed by your firmness and spiritual wisdom, will flee from you.

However slothful and weak your flesh may be, however inclined to sleep you may be, conquer yourself. Do not spare yourself for God’s sake; renounce yourself; let your gift to God be perfect. Give God your heart.

It's just a matter of time.

Only those born before roughly 1985 will have any experiential knowledge of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States. But the idea of a Cold War may soon become very real to those born after 1985.

And frankly, this Cold War, which, in various ways has already begun, will be a lot costlier; and that's because it isn't just between Russia and America this time around. "Cold War 2.0" will feature the United States versus both Russia and China.

You heard that right: No one, even a superpower, wants to fight an alliance of two major opponents — and just how much of a superpower America is these days is a little doubtful. Yes, we are, but let's just say, a lot of the luster has been taken off since the Soviet Union collapsed on the day after Christmas, 1991.

Depends on what's being fought for.

The whole world is riveted, it seems, on the war in Ukraine right now — especially with Zelenskyy recently saying if his proposed talks with Putin either don't materialize or break down, we could be in a third world war.

War is always a frightening prospect, and back in the days of the Vietnam War, a multitude of songs were produced decrying war — in particular, Edwin Starr's notable hit, "War (What Is It Good For?)." The answer to the rhetorical question in the smash hit was "absolutely nothing."

That's not always the case, however, depending on what's being fought over. Sometimes, in a fallen world, war is necessary. But thinking of war in a different type of world, it's not only necessary but demanded. We're speaking here of spiritual war. Here, it is good; it's good for our salvation. In fact, without engaging in spiritual war, there is no salvation.

Here at Church Militant, spiritual war is what we are all about. And, seeing as how it's Lent, we'd like to focus on that for just a moment. We are all aware of the three pillars of Lent — prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Finding its footing.

As the nonstop, wall-to-wall media coverage of the Russia–Ukraine conflict drags on in the mainstream media, you can't help but wonder — is there more afoot here, specifically regarding the media coverage?

Whatever multilevel dynamics are at play behind the scenes of the actual military action, it is indisputable that those telling us about every bullet and bomb likely have some other agenda going on. The media giants haven't told their viewers or readers the truth in decades — and, most especially, in the last half-dozen years. So why should anyone believe what they say now?

Remember, "Russia, Russia, Russia" all turned out to be a lie.

Remember (speaking of Ukraine) the Trump and Zelensky phone call the Democrats used as an excuse for impeachment? It all turned out to be a lie.

Remember Hunter's laptop? Of course you don't — because they covered it up. Remember, "Biden wins!" turned out to be a lie. Remember, "flatten the curve" turned out to be a lie. Remember, "put your mask on because it prevents infection" turned out to be a lie. Remember, calling an experimental gene therapy a "vaccine" turned out to be a lie. Remember, hundreds of thousands dying from COVID (as distinguished from with COVID) turned out to be a lie.

And speaking of COVID, we haven't really heard a single mention of it since the Ukraine story flared up. Who would have thought the cure for COVID would be a war in central Europe?
