Unfortunately, it's not a joke.

Sometimes, we are fed information here that seems hard to believe when we receive it. You could say it falls in the "shocking, but not surprised" column. We received one such piece of information late last week.

William Callahan, the bishop of the diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin (now infamous for its handling of both the Fr. James Altman case and its cover-up of the Msgr. Grindr case), has the gall to now launch a $40 million-dollar fundraising campaign. This kind of shameless activity is off the charts. It's insulting to faithful Catholics, in fact.

Callahan has proven himself nothing better than a stooge for Blase Cupich — one of the most, if not the most, active destroyers of the Faith in the country. Cupich was the one who ordered Callahan to ice Fr. Altman, and, of course, being the weak male that he is, Callahan simply folded.

God damns their signatures.

I'm Fr. James Altman from La Crosse, Wisconsin, and I'm happy to be guest hosting today's Vortex. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Dear family, it always is good to begin by invoking the Holy Trinity when entering into battle, and we are in a battle for eternal souls.

I'm coming to you from the studios of Church Militant, headquartered in the archdiocese of Detroit. For about 15 years, this archdiocese and Abp. Allen Vigneron have persecuted this apostolate for nothing more than teaching and preaching the truth. I have now had my own experience of that very thing when Allen Vigneron worked behind the scenes trying to prevent me from speaking to a private group this week.

Well, people living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Why don't you clean up your own chancery, Allen, instead of wasting your time worrying about me? What you've done to Fr. Perrone is a disgrace. What you allowed members of your chancery to do to that holy priest is a disgrace. And yes, I am ready, willing and able to inform the people about that disgrace.

The rise of laymen.

Just before we begin, may I ask a personal favor of you — to remember my dear mom, Anne, in your prayers (today, especially)? It's the 17th anniversary of her death and entrance into eternal life. Everything that has happened here at Church Militant and St. Michael's Media has occurred as a result of her offering up her intense cancer pains and suffering for my and my brother Marshall's return to the Faith. Without her asking for a cross to help with our salvation, none of this would exist. Such is the mystery of redemptive suffering. Thank you in advance for your prayers for her.

Now, moving to this Vortex: We're coming to you from Hillsboro, Wisconsin from the site of a men's conference that was held last weekend on the farm of the Roos brothers, Josh and John.

They worked their tails off with other close friends and associates to open up their place so that hundreds of men from around the nation could come and spend a day of bonding, laughter, prayer and talks by Doug Barry, Fr. Altman and me. The major theme of the day was to fight for the truth and be men of Christ — authentic men — a resource woefully lacking in the Church today.
