The A/V (Attack/Victim) Switch

The video below lit up a realization in my brain. This is very well known, but I decided to give it a name. This does no warrant a long article, but here it goes.

Anyone who has visited the WomenBehavingBadly Tribe, or seen any of the countless thousands of related videos, knows this dynamic well. Women Fuck Around, and Find Out.

When men do this, we tend to laugh and maybe even revel. After all, who doesn't enjoy a little bit of karma or schadenfreude.

But when women do this, the culture at large tends to side with the woman - even when SHE was the instigator. And the epiphany for me was this: I think they sometimes (often?) do this on purpose.

You can guess the reasons, but the point is the behavior not the motivation.

The opening words of the woman in this video indicate that she started using "hate speech" online against men, got called out on it, and then cried to the world that SHE was getting the hate - Attack/Victim Flip. She started out as the attacker, but once the "find out" consequences hit her, she took to the airwaves to claim victim status.

You can fill in the rest. From now on, when you see this sort of provocation with the predictable victim flip, now we have a word for it.
