@redpillschool and you both shall be happy to...
have these vcards!
@MentORPHEUS by the way for onlookers this is the kind of level headed discussion that people who disagree should be able to have. I'm always happy you're here mento
Unfettered capitalism, at its core, works to exploit labor and resources, and concentrate their wealth upward to a tiny elite class.
No, that's what greedy assholes do, and they do it under any and every system.
@MentORPHEUS Yeah capitalism sure has it's problems. And so does everything. So I'm not really quick to jump on the anti-capitalism train.
We decided slavery is bad, so we said not on our soil. But then USA said, "but feel free to do the slavery elsewhere and then import it back into our markets for free!"
This isn't a third order symptom, it's a first-order floodgate that's wide open.
The problem with your argument Mento, is that it relies on slave labor for the artifically low costs.
What makes you assume that "my argument" is that this is GOOD?!?
Henry Ford had the sense to know that paying his workers well, so they could afford to buy the products they work to build, was GOOD for business.
Unfettered capitalism, at its core, works to exploit labor and resources, and concentrate their wealth upward to a tiny elite class. Putting tariffs on imports TODAY as Trump would do, is treating the third or fourth order SYMPTOMS of a problem in ways that won't address the root cause, and cause other WORSE problems, namely hyperinflation in the consumer goods sector but with no domestic production capacity in place to get incentivized by and benefit from it.
Read More@MentORPHEUS It's a play you can make when you still have (one of the) largest economies in the world and regardless of where your products are made, you need to sell in the USA market to profit.. we still have that leverage for now.
You do need to wonder though, if it's such a bad idea for America, why does every other country have tariffs? Why is it uniquely our problem when we decide the trade deficit isn't fair?
The problem with your argument Mento, is that it relies on slave labor for the artifically low costs.
Your e-device, sneakers, etc shouldn't be $3 to make. The people making your goods are jumping off roofs out of desperation.
@redpillschool You misunderstand the motivations of narcissists and megalomaniacs.
Also, tariffs work when the imports they target compete with existing domestic production. But, whoops, the Capital Class already exported most of America's production to more profitable foreign shores. In this case, tariffs function as a TAX whose burden is borne by the consumers who need to buy such products. It does nothing to provoke any change to the system as it exists, and doesn't really hurt the bad players on either side of the transaction who set the system up this way.
@MentORPHEUS Well, see I disagree. If he was doing what was in his best interest he wouldn't be opposing the globalists and getting shot at. He'd be retired on a beach and you'd never see him again.
And he does offer substance- tariffs are a fantastic way to level the playing field globally, especially when countries with slavery are unfairly competing with our labor market.
@redpillschool I wish it were so. But face it, Trump is no reformist President, and doesn't offer anything of substance in terms of better policies and practices. Bottom line, Trump is in this for Trump.
Polite reminder that your votes don't matter and you're all slaves.
"You have people in the United States who have tens of billions, if not hundreds of billions of dollars, on the line when it comes to what American policies are going to be.
They have so much at stake.
If you imagine for a second that they're going to leave the decision for who's going to make policy up to the general public .. you're out of your mind."
