If politics can be seen as a prisoner's dilemma, and I believe it can, Trump's politics is simply a carpet-Defect move on all fronts. It's a typical greedy algorithm, aimed at cashing out on all the slower-but-steadier politics of the past few US administrations. Not only his stance towards Ukraine (and I do support his ending the war), but also his policy against the EU is quite telling. He'll cash out now, providing "results", and let the tab be picked up by whomever in the misty future.

I think every one of these sites enshittifies and doesn't recognize that they're going to kill the golden goose. Slashdot, Digg, Reddit. They're all making changes that drive away users.
I am thankful for Ellen Pao. When she made it clear Reddit's new direction was anti-free speech, that's the day we started TRP.RED.

Now we're finding out where they got the money to pay for the users and the bots, and whatever other tools they used.
I have mentioned this before, but i used to spend a LOT of time on Answerology.com. It occupied a sweet spot in the universe where men and women would interact in a pretty chill relaxed way. Sometimes shit got kicked up, but beefs were few and far between.
Then Hearst media purchased the site and let it slowly die. Feminist suddenly became mods and admins out of nowhere, posts/threads were getting nuked, and it all came crumbling down.
The site was juuuuuuust big enough to be interesting, but also small enough to be unable to withstand the exodus of a critical mass of male users.
And that's exactly what happened. And that's when I shifted to reddit - where I found r/theredpill and WAATGM and others.
Now I'm here.
I still wonder if they knew what they were doing. Why kill and up and coming social media platform with a good name and a solid user base?
Honestly, I think they miscalculated.
Reddit did not. They waited until they had a large enough userbase (and a mystique that no longer exists) before they went full bore.
And it all began with Ellen Pao. I suspect she was sent in to do the dirty deed.
