@SeasonedRP Mostly agree, although a guarantee in Ukraines perspective doesnt require boots on the ground. They specifically want strong missile defense systems as part of it.
We can agree or disagree on the topic of US presence in Ukraine and how important that is for upholding US power. I view the trend of isolation and protectionism from Trumps lair as worrying and economically illiterate.
While the intent is to strengthen america it will only lead to the opposite by most metrics.
But my main point was that the meeting was an avoidable shit show that Trump and Vance only made worse. Repeatedly triggering the guy you’re there to talk to is bad strategy.
@SeasonedRP The tweets im talking about claimed Blinken, Rice and several others had a conference call with Zelensky advising him to not make the deal. They were complete bogus as admitted by the author and then went viral with the help of Richard Grenell and other MAGA cool aid drinkers.
The meeting you're referring to was with a bipartisan group where Zelensky confirmed his need for better security guarantees. There's no source on them egging him on. And lets say there was; how can you say Trump and Zelensky had any sort of mutual understanding when they went in to sign the deal? Vance and Trump werent there do discuss and make a deal, they wanted capitulation on their terms - which, whether you agree with them or not, is not good diplomacy, especially not in front of the press.

I've seen this very claim made and it was traced back to a tweet later admitted to be purely speculation. That very tweet has clearly made the rounds, and if in your shoes i couldnt find a solid source for it, i'd seriously consider torching my news feed and starting over.

@MentORPHEUS Getting a solid deal should be a cake walk as it stands, with the US holding all the bargaining power. Instead of getting the deal signed and upholding diplomatic relations, Trump completely lost frame and behaved like spoiled child.

@SeasonedRP Trump had no idea what Zelensky even wanted from the deal. It's crazy to defend such complete lack of preparation. Very poorly handled and a complete loss of frame on Trumps end. Zelensky too, botched his chance of getting Trump closer to his side, which im sure he could have achieved as long as he would've handled Trump like the narcissistic manchild that he is.
