As for the poker face, I used to be VERY reactive. Especially if I disagreed or was displeased or angered, I would telegraph it in an obvious, almost exaggerated manner. Normal mellow people find this uncalibrated thus mildly off putting. Aggressive and manipulative people would catch this and manipulate or fuck with me actively.
Once I became aware of the fact, I was able to consciously suppress this tendency and eventually get it below the natural momentary "tells" that Normal untrained people exhibit. Over time it became natural and automatic.
Another important social skill I've experienced not having then gaining is the art of people watching without telegraphing the fact. I used to watch attractive women with all the subtlety of a 5yo seeing a fire engine going by. Even if the object of attention didn't notice, everyone else in line of sight can see, and this also projects a generally unattractive lack of social calibration.
