Do I suck at internet?
IME the primary benefit of a curved monitor is keeping everything within sight when using a larger display. I got a flat 32" for my current rig when I built it and pretty quickly realized the edges of the screen were fading off my peripheral vision and I had to turn my head to keep track of everything. Getting a curved monitor solved that.
For a smaller display like you're looking for I expect a flat screen would be both perfectly serviceable and probably cheaper than curved.
I could be wrong about the latter. I built my rig in '19 and, at that time, curved monitors were still new and shiny enough I found most of 'em were priced higher. I'd like to hope that's changed in the last 5 years but can't imagine why manufacturers would give that up if they don't have to.
you kiddos
Last I checked, you were younger than me
think the internet is just a tv box that you hold in your hand that you control with your thumb by endlessly scrolling.
Not at all; I've been interwebbing since 1995. But a desktop system? Again, that's so pre-2010 or thereabouts.
But some people use computers for productivity, and need things like.. a keyboard...
Yeah, and you know what those people are?..
@redpillschool Curved panels are less reliable and prone to cracking under temperature. Also curved screens are mostly useful for media editing and color grading as the curvature prevents the colors from shifting due to the viewing angles. Anything else apart from that is just pointless and I'd always recommend you a standard flat screen with a good stand.
It's more important to have the right panel for you.
TN = Good for contrast but weak on viewing angles and colors. High response rate. IPS = Good on colors and viewing angles but weak contrast. Low to Medium response rate. VA = Higher response rate but higher ghosting.
Please see this link for a better understanding of the panels:

@Typo-MAGAshiv I know that a lot of you kiddos out there think the internet is just a tv box that you hold in your hand that you control with your thumb by endlessly scrolling.
But some people use computers for productivity, and need things like.. a keyboard, and more than handful of screen.
So I ask again: Curved monitor or flat? Pros / Cons? Are there designer reasons not to get curved?
Alright guys, my desktop monitor just shit the bed and I'm in the market for a larger experience. I measured my desk and it looks like I can add up to a 27" widescreen on my desk along side my secondary monitor.
So the question is: FLAT or CURVED?
I didn't realize how mute worked and thought I had to reply to modmails to keep the forum "moderated" in reddits eyes
